Veliky Ustyug (meteorite)

Veliky Ustyug ((ロシア語:Великий Устюг)) was a meteorite that fell on July 3, 1290 (Julian calendar: June 24) at the Kotovo village near the town of Veliky Ustyug, Vologda Oblast, Russia. The fall was witnessed by local priests. The whole event was later described in the ''Life of Procopius the Righteous'' ((ロシア語:Житие Прокопия Праведного); 16th century).
The meteorite itself has been lost. Veliky Ustyug is not included in the Meteoritical Bulletin Database.
Scientists of Meteoritics Laboratory of Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry presume that the fall of Veliky Ustyug meteorite is connected to Tunguska explosion.
